Best & Worst Dressed at the Golden Globes

Lights, camera, awards season! The first official weekend of the new year brought along the Golden Globe awards; and while the weather is currently freezing in so many corners of the world, Los Angeles was its sunny self as Hollywood’s brightest stars came out to celebrate the best in TV and movies. Here are the night’s best and worst dressed:

Sophie Turner sizzles in Louis Vuitton! The Game of Thrones actress expertly combines shoulder pads, cutouts, and sheer in one stunning gown that show that she’s all grown up. Turner completes the look with Tiffany & Co. jewels and flat straight hair.

Heidi Klum‘s latest fashion crime comes in the form of this J. Mendel zig-zag black and white dress. The top part seems to be holding on to dear life, trying to avoid a wardrobe malfunction, while the overall surplus of sequins is nothing short of tacky!

Drew Barrymore gets it right in this whimsical Monique Lhuillier gown: the fit is flawless and the sparkly winged shoulders are a perfect compliment to the actress’ character.

Sarah Jessica Parker could be easily mistaken for a runaway bride in this Vera Wang collection mess. SJP- who usually gets it right- dons an unflattering full-on white satin gown that looks like it needs to be ironed for DAYS. Adding insult to injury is her (completely) out of place Princess Leia hair.

Evan Rachel Wood gives us a lesson on how to wear a  suit to a high profile red carpet and end up on the best dressed list. The actress nails it in a perfectly tailored Altuzarra tux with an understated pussy bow double breasted white chemise.

Nicole Kidman looks all kinds of wrong in this fully embellished Alexander McQueen gown. I can’t seem to decide what’s worse: the multi-layered ruffled hem or the (extremely) outdated arm warmers!

Last night’s Best Actress winner was breathtaking in Valentino Haute Couture. La La Land‘s Emma Stone was the epitome of glamour in a beautiful star inspired gown and Tiffany & Co. diamonds.

Chrissy Teigen misses the mark in this disappointing fishtail gown by Marchesa. The model could have done so much better than this greige meets bronze gown.

Amy Adams stuns in a fully sequined strapless Tom Ford column dress. The Arrival actress kept her hair simple and accessorized with Cartier diamonds for her walk down the red carpet.

Although Kerry Washington‘s makeup and hair were on point for the Golden Globes, her dress was NOT.  With the excessive gunmetal embroidery and awkward belt placement, this Dolce & Gabbana gold lace tea length dress has too much going on, not to mention those visible black spanks which are just tasteless.

Reese Witherspoon shines in a custom-made Atelier Versace sweetheart neckline lemon dress with a high slit and Tiffany & Co. jewelry.

Zoe Saldana hits all the wrong notes in a Valentine inspired Gucci gown. Too much fabric and a huge in-your-face lavender bow turned this look into an absolute disaster.

74th Annual Golden Globe Awards, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 08 Jan 2017

Kristen Bell  is chic and polished in a dangerously plunging Jenny Packham black dress. From the shiny all-over sequins to her tousled waves and not forgetting those drop dead gorgeous Harry Winston diamonds, Bell was undoubtedly the Globe’s Belle of the ball!

74th Annual Golden Globe Awards, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 08 Jan 2017

Blake Lively makes her post-baby return to Hollywood in an unflattering custom velvet Atelier Versace gown. The look could have been a winning one if it weren’t for the unnecessary gold sequined neckline and weird pockets? Even Blake’s enviable emerald Lorraine Schwartz cuffs could not save this look!

Favs | The Great Gatsby: Hunky Actors, Tiffany Sparklers, & A LOT of Prada

After having its release date pushed back several times, The Great Gatsby has finally landed in theaters all over the world. Based on Scott Fitzgerald’s book, the movie tells the story of Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) – a mid westerner who moves to New York and is introduced to the lavish world of his neighbor Jay Gatsby, played by (the still very dreamy) Leonardo DiCaprio. Set in 1922, Gatsby is a mysterious party-throwing millionaire who falls for Carraway’s married cousin, Daisy Buchanan, played by Carey Mulligan.

The movie had its world premiere in New York last week, but its long awaited moment came last night when it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.

Why should fashion lovers care about this movie? Two reasons! One is fancy jewelry, and two is the luxurious designer wardrobe.

Legendary New York based jewelers Tiffany & Co designed flawless pieces for the movie made from platinum, pearls , and diamonds. Tiffany was chosen because its diamonds portrayed the epitome of American glamour during the jazz age and positively defined it in the 20s. The most notable item is the Savoy headpiece (worn by Carey Mulligan throughout the movie) made from freshwater cultured pearls and round brilliant diamonds, weighing in at a whopping 25 carats! Want to own it? Well you can if you’ve got $200,000 to spare by simply clicking  here.

As for the wardrobe, director Baz Lurhman approached Miuccia Prada to design over 40 outfits with the help of the movie’s costume designer Catherine Martin. The pair selected a few classic Prada designs and modified them to fit the 20s. The result was stunning gowns that were featured in most of the Great Gatsby party scenes!

I am beyond excited to watch this movie; aside from the jewels and the glamour, Leonardo DiCaprio’s movies are rarely a disappointment to his fans. The Great Gatsby is now showing at Lebanon’s Grand Cinemas theaters.

Fashion Fails | The Great Martha Stewart Disaster at The Great Gatsby Premiere

I’m not so sure what Martha Stewart was doing at The Great Gatsby premiere! On second thought, I guess the question shouldn’t be what she was doing, but WHAT was she wearing?

MS

Perhaps Martha didn’t have enough time to stop by Tiffany (the brand designed several items exclusively for the movie) to pick up some bling, and thought she could make up for it by wearing gold sequined spandex instead. Are those leggings? Did she hit the red carpet right after a jog? Is she seriously wearing ankle leggings to a major red carpet event?

"The Great Gatsby" World Premiere - Inside Arrivals

Martha, if you insist on wearing a cream jacket, gold sequined leggings, and those nude peep toe pumps, remember to get an even spray tan all over. This is the least we can expect from a domestic diva like yourself who knows that looking this washed out (especially on the red carpet) will do you no favors.

On second thought, maybe Martha should just stick to her signature apron and bake some yummy cookies :)

Red Carpet | The Tiffany & Co. Blue Book Ball!

One of my all time favorite brands- Tiffany & Co. – celebrated its annual publication of its Blue Book in New York City late last week.

TIF

The Tiffany Blue Book (as the publication is called) is the brand’s annual catalogue that shows the jeweler’s latest dazzling pieces in all their glamour and brilliance. What’s even more interesting is the fact that this Blue Book has been published yearly since 1845 and has been known as the first mail order catalogue to be distributed in the United States of America.

The very exclusive event took place at New York’s Rockefeller’s Center where a giant Tiffany Blue Box was erected and a blue light show lit the skies of the big city. Hollywood’s A list stars came out to celebrate the big night wearing stunning designer gowns and more importantly, they were decked out in thousands of carats from Tiffany’s 2013 diamond collection. Take a look!
