5 Best Dressed Stars from 2014

The new year marks the arrival of the all-important awards season. In just a few days’ time, Hollywood’s A list will be flooding LA’s red carpets, decked out in designer wear, sparkling jewels, and sky- high heels.

In honor of this impending season, let’s take a look back at some of last year’s best dressed stars!

Lupita Nyong’o was just another name early last year. But, in a few week’s time the Kenyan beauty walked away with an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in 12 Years A Slave and hit every best dressed list along the way. Who can forget her coral “cape” moment courtesy of Ralph Lauren at the Golden Globes or her “Nairobi” blue Prada gown at the Oscars?

When you think of Sofia Vergara, the first words that come to mind are: bombshell, latina, hot, sexy, among others. At 42, this drop-dead gorgeous Columbian keeps getting hotter as the days go by. Although Vergara is often criticized for wearng the same silhouette every red carpet, she still managed to wow audience in 2014 with a show stopping white Roberto Cavalli at the Emmys. The actress switched things up at the Golden Globe Awards by putting on a flawless black Zac Posen gown and accessorized it with a breath-taking Laurraine Schwartz statement necklace.

She was pregnant for most of 2014, but Olivia Wilde looked hotter than ever as her pregnancy advanced. Her prime moment was when she walked the red carpet wearing an amazing emerald Gucci sequined dress that accentuated her baby bump flawlessly. She completed her look with Forevermark diamonds and the best ombre hair you’ve ever seen!

Kate Hudson is no stranger to best dressed lists! Although the actress was spotted wearing a similar color palette throughout the year, she was a winner every time! Her most memorable moments include a plunging sparkling caped Atelier Versace gown at the Academy Awards and a Gucci Premiere one-shouldered dress at the LACMA Art & Film Gala.

After a quiet 2013, Blake Lively made a fashion come-back in 2014! The former Gossip Girl turned heads during every red carpet event in every corner of the world. The actress was on a winning streak during the 2014 Cannes Film Festival where she dazzled in 3 FLAWLESS Gucci gowns and tons of diamonds!

Best and Worst at the 2014 Emmys

The much awaited Emmys took place last night in Hollywood. Once again, and following Sunday’s VMAs another red carpet lacked movie star glamour. However, some of our favorites brought it. The others? Well not so much..

Kicking off the best dressed with none other than Sofia Vergara. The Columbian stunner is now used to hitting every best dressed list all over the world and does not disappoint in a white Roberto Cavalli strapless gown and tons of diamonds from go-to jeweler, Lorraine Schwartz.

Julia Roberts sure knows how to wear a mini stunner to a classy awards show! America’s sweetheart stuns in a navy Elie Saab cocktail number (the details are simply amazing!). Roberts pairs her dress with matching pumps and her million dollar smile.

Heidi Klum is it really you?? The former super model is a far cry away from her thigh high slits and excessive cleavage ensembles in this understated – but beautiful Zac Posen gown! Here’s hoping Heidi keeps this up for her next red carpet appearance.

Orange is the New Black’s Taylor Schilling takes everyone’s breath away in this stunning Zuhair Murad gown. The actress pairs her gown with tons of diamonds and a soft up do.

Who can believe that Julia Louis-Dreyfus still manages to look this amazing after all these years?! The A list actress is mesmerizing in a custom-made Carolina Herrera column gown and Lorraine Schwartz sparklers. Definitely one of the best dressed of the night!

Julia Louis

Sarah Paulson looks like a work of art in this Armani Privé masterpiece. The actress is so graceful in this black and red tulle confection! She let the dress take center stage and stuck to simple hair and minimal accessories. Simply beautiful!

The beautiful Camilla Alves dazzles in nude; Mrs. Matthew McConaughey is sheer perfection in this sheer Zuhair Murad gown. The design hugs the model in all the right places, making her one of the night’s best dressed!

And as always, with the good comes the bad! Kicking it off with Amy Poehler who decided that belly dancers just have more fun at awards shows. Is there another explanation for this full on metallic sequined Theia design?

I love Kerry Washington and usually, most of her red carpet picks are spot on. Not this time though! The black and orange combo is simply not working and it just looks like Kerry’s 1 year old glued on the sequined bits all over her Prada gown with DIY super glue.

Poor Christina Hendricks in her satin red cover like gown. The Mad Men actress should have taken note from Julia Louis Dreyfus’ book when she chose to wear this. Instead, she gives us a lesson on how to screw up a red gown in this Marchesa mess. And as for the hair? Well it needs a “hate” blog post on its own.

There’s not much to say when it comes to Lena Dunham. So instead, here’s a picture of her wearing Giambattista Valli. I’ll let you be the judge!

It always amazes me when an actress walks the red carpet with a feeling like she looks like a million dollars, when in reality she just resembles Sesame Street’s Big Bird. This is the case with Kate Walsh who shows up in this yellow Stephane Rolland disaster!

Dining in Style at the Fashionable Cavalli Caffé

Cavalli Caffé opened almost a year ago in Downtown Beirut, but I actually didn’t have time to check it out until one rainy night this past September.

While the weather was going completely crazy on a Tuesday night, we decided to drop by for an impromptu dinner. Well all you need to know is that the place screams “Cavalli” – from the furniture to the chandeliers and not forgetting the portraits on the wall, the place completely embodies the Italian designer.

Ambience

I loved that the restaurant was kind of empty; it made the experience more private and the atmosphere less noisy. We took our seats on a Zebra themed couch that was comfortable and cozy and started sifting through the menu. The dishes are mostly international; you can find a variety of starters, salads, sandwiches, mains, and desserts.

We ordered two glasses of what turned out to be a delicious Italian white wine and we chose the tomato bruschetta as a starter which was really tasty, but if you’re on a date, you may want to skip it since it contains a lot of onion.

ambience with bottles

For our main course, Ralph chose the Cavalli Entrecote complete with impeccably stacked French fries and fresh steamed vegetables. I must say that the portion was a pretty good one and the steak turned out to be pretty tasty! As for me, well I was delighted to find out that the Chef can cook almost any kind of Risotto of my choice, so I went for my favorite; safron Risotto with grilled shrimps.

We enjoyed our dinner as we talked and looked around the place taking in everything Cavalli. Every detail was considered in making this place what it is; the spotless utensils, the plates with the Zebra motif on them, even the chocolate squares were individually monogrammed with the venue’s logo.

As for the dessert, well I can honestly say that I found the best profiteroles in the country! The soft profiteroles were filled with yummy chocolate and vanilla ice cream and drizzled with the tastiest chocolate fudge that made every bite even better than the one before!

To sum it up, if you’re looking for a place to spend a quiet evening with a special someone, then Cavalli Caffé is the place to go to. The generosity, tasty dishes, friendly service, and overall atmosphere will make you want to come back and score major points with your date ;)

Spotted! | Sharon Stone Brings a Gold Snake to the Red Carpet!

Sharon Stone had jaws dropping as she walked the red carpet for the amf AR charity event in Cannes last night. Yes, the Hollywood megastar was joined by a rather large gold snake that got the audience talking and papparazos fighting to snap a picture.

While Stone really did bring along a snake, it wasn’t of the alive kind (relax!). The actress was spotted wearing a white evening gown by Roberto Cavalli that featured a large gold colored snake down the back.

At 55, I must say Sharon still looks stunning! After all, no one other than The Basic Instinct beauty could pull this look off! Don’t you think?

Red Carpet | Supermodels Add Sexy Glamour to Cannes

Why are supermodels attending movie premieres at a film festival? Who knows… Did they bring a whole lot of sexy to the red carpet? They sure DID!

Not that I’m complaining about their presence, on the contrary, it’s pretty tough to put a model in a designer dress and not expect her to look stunning. It’s safe to say that some of the most famous faces in modeling have turned the Cannes red carpet into their very own catwalk!

Kicking it off with every guy’s favorite, Irina Shayk wore this black cutout and very sheer Roberto Cavalli dress (I guess you can call it a dress). The Russian beauty kept oh so very little to the imagination and even avoided a few wardrobe malfunctions.

Erin Heatherton was a bit more discrete on the red carpet, appearing twice so far wearing gowns by Roberto Cavalli. Just last night, the Victoria’s Secret Angel chose a white lace number by the Italian designer for a bash on his yacht.

For the premiere of The Great Gatsby, British model Cara Delevingne wore a plunging black dress by Burberry with sheer panels of lace. Red lips, a smokey eye, and sparkling diamonds completed her look.

Doutzen Kroes is another model currently attending the Cannes Film Festival. For her first appearance, the Dutch beauty chose a blush pink gown by Versace that featured a plunging neckline and a high thigh slit. For her next walk down the red carpet, Doutzen wore a jaw dropping white dress by Calvin Klein, complete with a slit up to there and that put her back on full display.

I saved the best for last, and the best is non other than Alessandra Ambrosio. The Brazilian model has been seen all over Cannes tanning, enjoying the sites, and having lunch with friends in comfy outfits. However, when it was time to hit the festival, the model brought the glam! For the De Grisogono party, Alessandra wore a stunning yellow gown by Elie Saab and accessorized with a matching belt and sandals. To attend Roberto Cavalli’s boat party, she chose a royal blue gown by the designer that featured a lacey sheer back. Back on the red carpet, the model looked like she was dripping in silver in another Roberto Cavalli metallic creation that covered her frame, but showed off her sexy physique.
