Chasing a Dream with Elie Saab

It was supposed to be another star-studded Spring-Summer show for Elie Saab in Paris yesterday. Except this fashionable affair was unlike any other in the designer’s history! As each model strutted down the catwalk, a story about Beirut’s golden age was reflected from the dress she wore; stories about the city that never slept, endless parties, eternal beauty and youth, and a personal reverie of Saab‘s mother wearing a tulip print dress.

This is Elie Saab in all his glory; exploring new patterns and colors, introducing feathers to his collections, reviving low heeled satin sandals, putting on an elaborate show- as if from a fairytale, and ultimately, paying homage to his Beirut!

Now, let the pictures do the rest of the talking..

Trends | Elie Saab’s Lace Garden

In between inking a deal with Evian for 2014 last week, Elie Saab found some time to showcase his stunning Ready to Wear Spring Summer 2014 collection at the Jardins des Tuilleries, as part of Paris Fashion Week.

Following the amazing Royal Affair  Autumn Winter 2013 collection, Saab draws inspiration from nature and accentuates it with dazzling lace details. Vibrant Spring colors included white, soft rose, greens, blues, and new take on florals that made the trend seem more youthful.

Classy evening dresses were shown in the designer’s signature black with sexy and structured placements of lace all over as well as fully beaded gowns that added an edge to the whimsical collection.

You can check out more from the collection on Elie Saab’s Facebook fan page.

I never find the right words to describe Elie Saab’s collections. This is not because I cannot express myself, but because it’s hard to find new synonyms for the words “perfect”, “flawless”, “stunning”, “amazing”, and the list goes on. His collections are always the talk of the town- and I’m not only referring to Beirut here. From the breath-taking gowns to the models, their hair and makeup, every detail is given special attention.

The Haute Couture Autumn-Winter 2013/2014 show 2 days ago was no different; Saab showed another flawless collection for the upcoming Fall season in Paris consisting of dark tones mostly. The designer kicked off the show with several dark burgundy gowns and gradually moved on to blues and emerald .

Grey and ivory also made an appearance, along with light pinks and some very attractive earth tones. As usual, the Saab sealed the designs with his signature intricate embroidery and belted defined waists.

When it was time to show the bridal gown, 3 models walked behind the bride delicately holding her grand veil and brought the captivating show to a close.

I can’t wait to see several of these designs on Hollywood’s red carpets! Can you?!

Trends | Paris Fashion Week: Elie Saab Closes Out PFW with Stellar Show!

First came Louis Vuitton then Miu Miu and finally Elie Saab. On the final day of Paris Fashion Week, the Lebanese designer unveiled yet another stunning collection to his ever anticipating audience.

Staying in sync with the upcoming season’s generous mix of masculine and feminine silhouettes shown on so many runways this month, Saab’s Autumn/Winter 2013 lady is one who wears tuxedo jackets with sharp edges, pants, jumpsuits, and oversized capes, yet is “always beautiful”, as he said backstage, but this time in a “Russian way”.

Feminine touches were added through the sheer layers on the side panels of the outfits, along with short skirts and peplum.

Shortly after, the label’s signature designs- heavily embroidered, lacey, and beaded gowns made their way down the runway, with black, yellow, white, blues, and purples dominating the collection.

It was yet another big show for Elie Saab who proved he could step out of his comfort zone and deliver big on the final day of Paris Fashion Week!

Trends | Paris Fashion Week: Marc Jacobs Delivers Big for Louis Vuitton!

With the entire fashion world camped out in the City of Lights for Paris Fashion Week, the week long event draws to a close today with big names show-casing their Ready to Wear Autumn/Winter 2013 collections.

Louis Vuitton kicked off day 9 with Marc Jacobs unveiling his 3rd collection for the brand in a hotel corridor set that reflected the fashion house’s heritage as a luggage company. Models came out of the closed doors and walked the runway in chiffon tea dresses, boyfriend oversized coats and furs thrown on top.

Menswear fabrics and tweeds were primarily used for the collection, yet the soft curvy dresses and silk slips injected a feminine vibe to it. Supermodel Kate Moss closed out the show in a glamorous blue floor-length gown and matching undergarments in an appearance that surprised most of the audience.

Describing the collection in a few short words, Jacobs said that it reflects “an attitude of getting dressed up only to find the most glamorous destination is one’s own hotel room”.

The show attracted a hefty amount of media coverage with the brand name even trending on Twitter, even until a few hours after the show and Elle calling it Louis Vuitton’s 10 star hotel.

Fitted high waisted and belted designs (now a staple of the fashion house) with flowing tule skirts were shown in ivory, pink, light blue, and golden beige. The models floated down the runway in fully embellished gowns reminiscent of Disney princesses. Red, white, and black also made a statement at the show, with Saab showcasing a red caped dress very similar to the white Tom Ford gown Gwyneth Paltrow wore to last year’s Oscars.
