Favs | The Great Gatsby: Hunky Actors, Tiffany Sparklers, & A LOT of Prada

After having its release date pushed back several times, The Great Gatsby has finally landed in theaters all over the world. Based on Scott Fitzgerald’s book, the movie tells the story of Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) – a mid westerner who moves to New York and is introduced to the lavish world of his neighbor Jay Gatsby, played by (the still very dreamy) Leonardo DiCaprio. Set in 1922, Gatsby is a mysterious party-throwing millionaire who falls for Carraway’s married cousin, Daisy Buchanan, played by Carey Mulligan.

The movie had its world premiere in New York last week, but its long awaited moment came last night when it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.

Why should fashion lovers care about this movie? Two reasons! One is fancy jewelry, and two is the luxurious designer wardrobe.

Legendary New York based jewelers Tiffany & Co designed flawless pieces for the movie made from platinum, pearls , and diamonds. Tiffany was chosen because its diamonds portrayed the epitome of American glamour during the jazz age and positively defined it in the 20s. The most notable item is the Savoy headpiece (worn by Carey Mulligan throughout the movie) made from freshwater cultured pearls and round brilliant diamonds, weighing in at a whopping 25 carats! Want to own it? Well you can if you’ve got $200,000 to spare by simply clicking  here.

As for the wardrobe, director Baz Lurhman approached Miuccia Prada to design over 40 outfits with the help of the movie’s costume designer Catherine Martin. The pair selected a few classic Prada designs and modified them to fit the 20s. The result was stunning gowns that were featured in most of the Great Gatsby party scenes!

I am beyond excited to watch this movie; aside from the jewels and the glamour, Leonardo DiCaprio’s movies are rarely a disappointment to his fans. The Great Gatsby is now showing at Lebanon’s Grand Cinemas theaters.

Camilla Belle hit the 2012 ceremony in a Ralph Lauren Spring/Summer 2012 gown. While I’m not so sure about the hot chocolate lip color, Belle’s ivory tulle beaded dress was stunning and her Ralph Lauren art- deco jewels helped her nail the look!

If there’s anyone who keeps getting it right year after year at the MET Ball, that person is non other than supermodel Gisele Bundchen! For the 2008 event, the Brazilian beauty sizzled in a soft pink Versace gown that showed plenty of skin. Two years later, Gisele went for a fierce look in a fringed Jason Wu mini that put her curves on full display.

The following year, Gisele was a vision of class and glamour in a voluminous Alexander McQueen scarlet gown and full skirt with raw edges. (check out her glossy hair!). She put on a skin tight Givenchy black dress with strappy in 2012 sandals proving that no one ever does it better than her at the MET Gala!
