Best & Worst Dressed at the Golden Globes

Lights, camera, awards season! The first official weekend of the new year brought along the Golden Globe awards; and while the weather is currently freezing in so many corners of the world, Los Angeles was its sunny self as Hollywood’s brightest stars came out to celebrate the best in TV and movies. Here are the night’s best and worst dressed:

Sophie Turner sizzles in Louis Vuitton! The Game of Thrones actress expertly combines shoulder pads, cutouts, and sheer in one stunning gown that show that she’s all grown up. Turner completes the look with Tiffany & Co. jewels and flat straight hair.

Heidi Klum‘s latest fashion crime comes in the form of this J. Mendel zig-zag black and white dress. The top part seems to be holding on to dear life, trying to avoid a wardrobe malfunction, while the overall surplus of sequins is nothing short of tacky!

74th Annual Golden Globe Awards, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 08 Jan 2017

Drew Barrymore gets it right in this whimsical Monique Lhuillier gown: the fit is flawless and the sparkly winged shoulders are a perfect compliment to the actress’ character.

74th Annual Golden Globe Awards, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 08 Jan 2017

Sarah Jessica Parker could be easily mistaken for a runaway bride in this Vera Wang collection mess. SJP- who usually gets it right- dons an unflattering full-on white satin gown that looks like it needs to be ironed for DAYS. Adding insult to injury is her (completely) out of place Princess Leia hair.

NBC's "74th Annual Golden Globe Awards" - Red Carpet Arrivals

Evan Rachel Wood gives us a lesson on how to wear a  suit to a high profile red carpet and end up on the best dressed list. The actress nails it in a perfectly tailored Altuzarra tux with an understated pussy bow double breasted white chemise.

74th Annual Golden Globe Awards, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 08 Jan 2017

Nicole Kidman looks all kinds of wrong in this fully embellished Alexander McQueen gown. I can’t seem to decide what’s worse: the multi-layered ruffled hem or the (extremely) outdated arm warmers!

NBC's "74th Annual Golden Globe Awards" - Red Carpet Arrivals

Last night’s Best Actress winner was breathtaking in Valentino Haute Couture. La La Land‘s Emma Stone was the epitome of glamour in a beautiful star inspired gown and Tiffany & Co. diamonds.

74th Annual Golden Globe Awards, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 08 Jan 2017

Chrissy Teigen misses the mark in this disappointing fishtail gown by Marchesa. The model could have done so much better than this greige meets bronze gown.

74th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

Amy Adams stuns in a fully sequined strapless Tom Ford column dress. The Arrival actress kept her hair simple and accessorized with Cartier diamonds for her walk down the red carpet.

74th Annual Golden Globe Awards, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 08 Jan 2017

Although Kerry Washington‘s makeup and hair were on point for the Golden Globes, her dress was NOT.  With the excessive gunmetal embroidery and awkward belt placement, this Dolce & Gabbana gold lace tea length dress has too much going on, not to mention those visible black spanks which are just tasteless.

74th Annual Golden Globe Awards, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 08 Jan 2017

Reese Witherspoon shines in a custom-made Atelier Versace sweetheart neckline lemon dress with a high slit and Tiffany & Co. jewelry.

74th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

Zoe Saldana hits all the wrong notes in a Valentine inspired Gucci gown. Too much fabric and a huge in-your-face lavender bow turned this look into an absolute disaster.

74th Annual Golden Globe Awards, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 08 Jan 2017

Kristen Bell  is chic and polished in a dangerously plunging Jenny Packham black dress. From the shiny all-over sequins to her tousled waves and not forgetting those drop dead gorgeous Harry Winston diamonds, Bell was undoubtedly the Globe’s Belle of the ball!

74th Annual Golden Globe Awards, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 08 Jan 2017

Blake Lively makes her post-baby return to Hollywood in an unflattering custom velvet Atelier Versace gown. The look could have been a winning one if it weren’t for the unnecessary gold sequined neckline and weird pockets? Even Blake’s enviable emerald Lorraine Schwartz cuffs could not save this look!

The Boldest Looks From The MET Gala 2016

The first Monday of May in New York is quite the big deal; A-list celebrities flock to the MET museum on 5th avenue and walk the annual MET gala red carpet in custom-made creations by the world’s most coveted designers. 2016’s gala was no different than others; on the contrary, with a theme entitled ““Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology”, we witnessed a sea of mirrored gowns that surely transported us to the future. Here’s a closer look at last night’s boldest looks:

Emma Stone debuted her darker locks in a striking white Prada gown with a gunmetal harness. The actress completed her look with Lorraine Schwartz jewels and Smokey eyes.

Kendall Jenner was her usual stunning supermodel self in a custom multi-colored Atelier Versace dress. Jenner accentuated her look with white heels and a high ponytail.

Kendall’s bestie- Gigi Hadid- also wowed in a gunmetal chiffon custom-made Tommy Hilfiger gown with an attached halter neckline. The model brought her best accessory, boyfriend Zayn Malik who turned heads in his metal armed custom Versace suit.

Blake Lively usually knocks it out of the park with her MET gala ensembles, however, last night was a different story. The pregnant actress does not impress in her pink Burberry dress with red flower embellishments; from her hair to her over-the-top Lorraine Schwartz danglers, here’s hoping that Blake’s fashion choices evolve as her second pregnancy unfolds.

Taylor Swift can’t seem to get enough of her new look; the singer sticks to her beach hair and wine lips for the MET’s red carpet event and dons a reptile print Louis Vuitton side cut-out halter dress. It’s safe to say that T.Swift can do so much better than this.

In possibly one of the worst looks of the night, Madonna chooses to cover her nipples in black tape and show us her butt in a sheer black ensemble and over 400 carats of Neil Lane jewels. It’s time to act your age Madge.

Naomi Watts knows how good she looks in metallics: the Aussie actress stuns in a strapless mirrored Burberry dress with embellished flowers and Fred Leighton jewels.

Another red carpet, another shapeless matching getup for Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

I’m usually not a fan of Kristen Stewart, but the actress surely impressed at this year’s MET gala. For her walk down the carpet, Stewart chose a laced silk Chanel dress with equally stunning sparkly boots. The actress ups her game with striking silver shadow and a blonde updo.

A usual MET gala favorite, Sarah Jessica Parker fails in this custom Monse ensemble and mis-matched heels from her own line, SJP.

Lady Gaga goes back to her early red carpet days in a flawlessly structured Atelier Versace onesie and matching metallic bolero with sublime detailing. Her lace-up platform boots should have stayed at home though.

Emma Watson pushes her style in a pant/skirt combo by Calvin Klein Collection. The British actress completes her outfit with a simple black and white bustier and old glamorous waves.

Karolina Kurkova stuns in her gray Marchesa dress that comes loaded with flower appliques and get this, the gown is embedded with IBM Watson technology (LED lights) that reacts to social media in real-time!

Kim Kardashian said that she felt like a “robot” in her metallic mirrored Balmain gown, but I doubt that a even a robot would want to wear this skin-tight over the top look.

Rachel McAdams is simply lovely in her Valentino dress which featured heavy gold details and script embroidery all over the skirt. The actress completed her look with dark lips and a pair of Jimmy Choos.

Too much dress and way too many feathers; Rita Ora fails to inspire us with her custom Vera Wang gown.

What could be better than Kate Bosworth’s sublime Dolce and Gabbana armored bodice dress? Her matching crown, that’s what.

"Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals

Katy Perry takes costume galas very seriously it seems. The singer goes all out with an elaborate (that word could be an understatement) Prada gown accentuated with a Tamagotchi (boyfriend Orlando Bloom also wore one) toy and a fierce updo.

"Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals

Cindy Crawford’s still got it! The ageless models sizzles in a liquid silver Balmain dress with structured sheer panels.

Nicki Minaj looks like she’s packed, taped, and ready to be shipped out in this custom Moschino halter dress, complete with buckle details and sheer gloves and skirt. #fail.

I’m having a schizophrenic reaction to Miranda Kerr’s Louis Vuitton two piece outfit. On the one hand, it’s way too colorful and the mismatched ruffle is just tacky, but on the other hand, if anyone can get away with wearing this look,  it would be this Aussie model.

"Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals

Note to Brie Larson: this is what you wear to a high profile red carpet event from now on. The Oscar winner makes up for her Academy Awards look by slipping into a breath-taking cut-out Proenza Schouler mirrored halter dress. Simply stunning!

Kate Hudson disappoints in this super busy Atelier Versace white gown with a tiered and sculpted bodice and long train. The actress redeems herself (kind-of) thanks to her 8 million dollar Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

"Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals

Solange Knowles is playful in this #Lemonade pleated dress with an inverted neckline and thigh-high matching boots. Classic Solange and on point with the color to support big sis Beyoncé.

"Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals

Alicia Vikander has too much going on thanks to her Louis Vuitton dress. The design house’s latest muse groups patent, sequins, and patchwork all in one LV mini and yet, the disaster seems to come in the form of Vikander’s unfortunate red hiking boots.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art's COSTUME INSTITUTE Benefit Celebrating the Opening of Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology, Arrivals, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC, New York, America - 02 May 2016

Dolce and Gabbana’s #ItaliaIsLove can easily be changed to #ZoeIsLove, for Saldana is the epitome of glitz and glamour in a flawless Dolce and Gabbana multi-colored feather trained extravagant gown.

"Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals

As if Beyoncé needed more press this week! Queen B was the talk of the MET thanks to her latex or Slaytex- as many called it- gown by Givenchy. The puff sleeve nude beaded gown sent the BeyHive (and the Twitterverse) into a frenzy and expressed a lack of care that Jay Z couldn’t make it. This was Beyoncé in all her glory and she emerged a winner, as usual.

Best & Worst Dressed at the 2015 SAG Awards!

It was a night of glitz and glamour as actors honored their fellow actors in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Here are the most memorable gowns from the evening along with those we all really want to forget!

Although this look is nowhere close to her breath-taking sighting 2 weeks ago, Julianne Moore dazzles once again in Givenchy. Although I’m not a fan of the tank top design and the somewhat messy hair, the emerald color is simply stunning and the intricate beading is flawless, and those purple Chopard earrings are not so bad either!

julianne moore

Reese Witherspoon continues her winning red carpet streak and shows up in a custom-made Giorgio Armani white one-sleeved gown. The blond beauty adds major bling thanks to 3.5 million dollars worth of Harry Winston diamonds.

reese with

Modern Family’s Julie Bowen makes her return to the red carpet thanks to a flawless design by George Hobeika. The flirty floral patterned design hugs the actress’ frame and compliments it perfectly.

julie bowen

Red carpet darling Naomi Watts wows in an off-the-shoulder navy Balenciaga gown. Once again, the actress flaunts her perfect diamonds from the BVLGARI along with a matching clutch from the Italian brand.

naomi watts

The stunning Khaleesi- also known by her real name, Emilia Clarke walks the carpet with so much sophistication and poise. The uber sexy Brit stuns in a black and navy Donna Karan gown and perfect Cartier jewels.

emilia clarke

Jennifer Aniston gives Sofia Vergara a run for her money and takes a deep plunge in a vintage Galliano paisley print gown. The “Cake” actress adds her favorite gold body chain and goes for a blow-dry that just works.

jen aniston

In turn, newly engaged Sofia Vergara drops jaws in a killer Donna Karan Atelier red corset and flowing train combo. The Modern Family actress kept her hair simple and accessorized with her stunning engagement sparkler.

sofia vergara

Emma Stone is an absolute winner on the red carpet! She takes a major risk and shows up in a Dior Haute Couture tuxedo jacket dress that is absolutely flawless! The actress keeps her hair and make-up simple and slips into a pair of sexy strappy Louboutins to complete her Best Dressed look.

emma stone

Felicity Jones chose a beautiful Balenciaga design for the SAGs. It’s too bad that she selected a powder pink version of the gown, because the color completely washes her out.

felicity jones

Claire Danes may not be the train-wreck she was at the Golden Globes, but that doesn’t make her look any better. This Marc Jacobs halter design could have interesting if it weren’t for that busy contrasting belt and stone accents on the sides- yes stone accents!

claire danes

If you’re feeling an intolerable urge to rip-off Julia Roberts‘ weird looking satin-like pelvis? “pockets”, rest assured, you’re not alone. Roberts’ Givenchy jumpsuit’s tailoring is completely off and those black peep-toes look one size too big/worn out!

julia roberts

Keira Knightley: still pregnant, still on the worst dressed list. Although the shade of purple of this Erdem gown is amazing against her skin-tone, Knightley once again chooses to hide her baby bump under layers and layers of unnecessary fabric! Impatiently waiting for this once fashion icon and Chanel darling to wow us again!

keira knightly

And last but not least, Modern Family’s Ariel Winter brings the teenage cleavage to the SAGs red carpet courtesy of a winter white Zac Posen gown. Mind you, the actress is only 16 years old and although I read somewhere that she has trouble dressing for her body type, this look is too much dress and a whole lot of face paint for someone who is obviously going out on a school night!

Red Carpet | Memorable Gowns from the MET Gala!

The annual Costume Institute Gala- also known as the Met Gala- is upon us again! Fashion’s major social event takes place annually at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

This year’s event will take place on May 6th, and in anticipation of the big day, here are the top 10 most memorable gowns from the Gala!

Camilla Belle hit the 2012 ceremony in a Ralph Lauren Spring/Summer 2012 gown. While I’m not so sure about the hot chocolate lip color, Belle’s ivory tulle beaded dress was stunning and her Ralph Lauren art- deco jewels helped her nail the look!

Never the one to shy away from showing some skin, Gossip Girl’s Blake Lively slipped into this Versace gown for the 2009 Met Gala. The actress flaunted her cleavage and put her legs on full display in this chiffon teal gown. Crystal detailed Versace sandals completed her look.

Blake Lively Versace9

Diane Kruger chose this Jason Wu two toned gown for the 2011 Gala. Her dress consisted of an embellished long sleeve bodice and black skirt with a hip high slit. Side parted waves and a red lip completed her glamorous look.

Diane Kruger Jason Wu8

Fashion’s IT girl Emma Stone wore this Lanvin creation for the 2012 MET Gala in NYC. The over the knee hemline and fun details were enough to land her on the best dressed list last year. If only Emma skipped the boring black pumps and went for some killer sandals!

Emma Stone Lanvin7

Kate Beckinsale is always stunning on the red carpet, so it’s no surprise that she was just that at the 2010 event. Beckinsale wore a Marchesa tulle ball gown with a steel sparkling bodice and a full skirt. Adding even more glamour to her extravagant look? Her foot long train!

Kate B Marchesa6

Inspired by her role in The Princess Diaries, Anne Hathaway wore a glamorous Valentino gown for the 2010 Met Gala. The sparkling champagne color created a great contrast with her skin and the full skirt added more drama to the look.

Anne H Valentino5

Zoe Saldana was a vision of simplicity and class at the 2010 Met Ball. The actress sparkled in this one sleeved navy gown courtesy of Calvin Klein. A classic updo and natural makeup completed her look!

Zoe Saldana CK4

A few months after welcoming baby Blue, Beyonce emerged on the 2012 Met Gala red carpet in this custom made Givenchy gown. From the sheer bodice, to the playful details, and not forgetting the purple feathered train, there are few other ladies in the world who can pull off Queen B’s look!

Beyonce in givenchy2

People magazine’s Most Beautiful Woman in the world knows that Stella McCartney‘s creations are made for the MET Ball. Gwyneth Paltrow stunned in this sequined nude gown by the British designer. Details included a thigh high slit that served as a reminder of the actress’ fabulous figure!

Gwyneth Paltrow Stella McCartney3

If there’s anyone who keeps getting it right year after year at the MET Ball, that person is non other than supermodel Gisele Bundchen! For the 2008 event, the Brazilian beauty sizzled in a soft pink Versace gown that showed plenty of skin. Two years later, Gisele went for a fierce look in a fringed Jason Wu mini that put her curves on full display.

G1

The following year, Gisele was a vision of class and glamour in a voluminous Alexander McQueen scarlet gown and full skirt with raw edges. (check out her glossy hair!). She put on a skin tight Givenchy black dress with strappy in 2012 sandals proving that no one ever does it better than her at the MET Gala!

Celebrities are just like us (well sort of). Once they find an item they’re passionately in love with, they stick to it for an entire season!

Check out these 5 star favs!

We all know Blake Lively is a huge fan of Laurraine Shwartz; her recent engagement and wedding rings were designed by the celebrity jeweler. The Gossip Girl star has been photographed wearing these emerald stud earrings on the red carpet, at press events, and even while running errands.

Jessica Biel has been looking like a sexy mail woman this past Winter season, sporting Christian Louboutin’s “Farida” messenger bag all over New York City. The trendy leopard print looks fantastic and is the perfect accessory to any outfit!

Kate Moss has been a recent obsession of mine; the 39 year old supermodel has been having a great year so far, even appearing in Givenchy’s eye wear campaign. So it should come as no surprise that the British beauty recently collaborated with Longchamp for the Kate Moss for Longchamp collection. Moss has been photographed carrying this Spring yellow clutch all over London!

American fashionista and actress Emma Stone appears to be a big fan of this Maje “Ribiera” jacket; wearing it has helped her brave the freezing cold Winter temps in New York City. You may also want to know that this particular item is soldout worldwide!

It’s back to Jessica Biel who’s been hitting the red carpet in beautiful blue hues that are accentuated with these stunning electric blue suede “Anouk” Jimmy  Choos. Jessica makes walking in these sky high pointed pumps look like a walk in the park!
