The world is celebrating International Women’s Today- a yearly date marked to acknowledge womens’ economic, political, and social achievements while expressing the utmost respect, appreciation, and love to them.
In honor of this day, Forbes compiled a list of the “100 Women Who Run the World”, including ladies from the fashion industry, such as designers Diane Von Furstenberg and Miuccia Prada, Vogue editor Anna Wintour, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, and entertainers like Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, and Ellen De Generes. The list also features some big names in politics, among them German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Brazil’s President Dima Rousseff, and US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton. Technology powerhouses also got their major share, with Meg Whitmen, HP’s CEO, Facebook’s COO, Sheryl Sandberg , and Yahoo! CEO, Marissa Mayer making the list.
There are so many women all around the globe striving to leave a mark in this world, be it in politics, fashion, technology, entertainment, and the list goes on and on.
I saw the image below on my Facebook timeline today and immediately thought of my favorite woman in the world.
MY mom. These simple words are such a true reflection of who she is. She really can move the world’s biggest mountains and she’s been doing it since the day I was born. To me, she is the perfect example of what a woman should be; driven, strong, outspoken, firm, and accomplished, yet soft, caring, emotional, joyful, and so very loving, and I am beyond honored to be her daughter today and everyday!
Happy International Women’s Day to all you amazing ladies out there!
