With the entire fashion world camped out in the City of Lights for Paris Fashion Week, the week long event draws to a close today with big names show-casing their Ready to Wear Autumn/Winter 2013 collections.
Louis Vuitton kicked off day 9 with Marc Jacobs unveiling his 3rd collection for the brand in a hotel corridor set that reflected the fashion house’s heritage as a luggage company. Models came out of the closed doors and walked the runway in chiffon tea dresses, boyfriend oversized coats and furs thrown on top.
Menswear fabrics and tweeds were primarily used for the collection, yet the soft curvy dresses and silk slips injected a feminine vibe to it. Supermodel Kate Moss closed out the show in a glamorous blue floor-length gown and matching undergarments in an appearance that surprised most of the audience.
Describing the collection in a few short words, Jacobs said that it reflects “an attitude of getting dressed up only to find the most glamorous destination is one’s own hotel room”.
The show attracted a hefty amount of media coverage with the brand name even trending on Twitter, even until a few hours after the show and Elle calling it Louis Vuitton’s 10 star hotel.
Next to present today is the Italian based brand Miu Miu and with Lebanese master Elie Saab set to close out the fashion week, I expect to see some red carpet worthy creations on the runway.
Stay tuned for more!
