Red Carpet | And the Oscar for Best Dressed Actress Goes to..

Awards season’s final stop and most important show- the Academy Awards- took place last night in Los Angeles. Hours before the ceremony, celebrities floated on the red carpet in stunning designer gowns and shiney diamonds, but only 5 of them deserve to be on the best dressed list, and here they are!

Jennifer Lawrence

It only seems fair that Jennifer makes the best dressed list and here’s why: 1) she won the Best Actress Award for her role in Silver Linings Playbook and 2) she wore a Dior Couture gown that was just featured at Paris Fashion Week! Jennifer’s ivory princess like gown made her the Belle of the ball and her pricey Chopard accessories included  23 carat earrings and a 74 carat necklace worn down her back.

Jennifer Lawrence

Jessica Chastain

She may have not won last night, but Jessica stunned in a bronze Giorgio Armani gown that looks like it was poured over her body. Perfect old Hollywood waves and Harry Winston diamonds completed her look. Surely enough, her million dollar red lipped smile easily won over the screaming crowd!

Jessica Chastain

Sandra Bullock

Although Sandra was not nominated last night, that didn’t stop her from looking like a winner at the Oscars. Bullock made a stunning entrance in this Elie Saab sheer skirted black gown, Harry Winston sparklers, Swarovski clutch, and Jimmy Choos.

Amy Adams

Looking like her alter ego “Giselle”  from the movie “Enchanted”, Amy Adams floats down the red carpet in this powder blue Oscar De La Renta gown, complete with heavy embroidery on the bodice and a full tulle embellished skirt. Amy finished up her look with possibly the best hairstyle of the night and diamond drop earrings.

Amy Adams

Naomi Watts

She may not have won (although she was my personal favorite), but she did it again and landed at number one on the Best Dressed list! Following her winning look at the SAGs, Naomi wore a gunmetal Armani Privé gown fit for royalty and worked this asymmetric neckline while flaunting some sexy yet tasteful cleavage. $1.5 million worth of Neil Lane jewels completed the look and made Naomi shine even brighter!

That’s a wrap for a awards season 2013! Stay tuned for much more!

Red Carpet | Memorable Oscar Fashion!

The wait is over and Oscar night is finally here! For many of us fashion enthusiasts, this night is more about the designer gowns, fancy hair, and drop-dead-gorgeous diamonds rather than who actually wins an award!

So in anticipation of what the stars will bring to the red carpet tonight, here are Oscar’s most memorable gowns ever!

Halle Berry

The most memorable dress of the century! In 2002, nominee Halle Berry stepped on the red carpet in this Elie Saab Couture gown with a sheer bodice and strageically placed embroidery. Lucky for her, she even won the Oscar for “Monster’s Ball” and got to show the dress to the world in her acceptance speech.

Halle B

Penelope Cruz

Penelope chose a blush colored Atelier Versace gown for the 2007 Academy Awards with a sweeping train. An elegant updo and natural makeup completed the flawless look!

Penelope C

Charlize Theron

To collect her Best Actress award for “Monster”, Charlize wore a nude Gucci gown to the 2004 Academy Awards. The dress fit Charlize like a glove and she managed to look even more Hollywood glam in her retro waves and statement jewelry.

Charlize T

Anne Hathaway

Before chopping off her hair to play “Fantine” in “Les Miserables”, this year’s Best Supporting Actress nominee dazzled on the red carpet in 2008. Her deep red Marchesa chiffon gown with flowers on the bodice and shoulder looked like a piece of art and the train made the look even more dramatic.

Anne H

Julia Roberts

One year before Halle Berry’s legendary Oscar gown, Julia Roberts turned heads when she hit the red carpet wearing Vintage Valentino. The black dress with white accents is the best thing I’ve ever seen Julia in. That night, Julia won Best Actress for her role in “Erin Brokovich” and I’m sure the gown is one of the reasons why she received a standing ovation as she finished her speech!

Julia R

Michelle Williams

Who could forget the canary yellow Vera Wang gown Michelle Williams wore to the 2006 Academy Awards? With the late Heath Ledger on her arm, Michelle was the definition of boho chic in this mustardy color, along with a side swept-do, red lips, and a statement necklace.

Michelle W

Hillary Swank

When Hillary Swank walked the Oscar red carpet in 2005, everyone thought she looked far too conservative. Fast forward a few minutes and Hillary reveals a cutout down to there in the back of her Guy Laroche gown. She also picked up an Academy Award for her stellar performance in “Million Dollar Baby”.

Hillary S

Jennifer Lawrence

In 2011, Jennifer Lawrence was nowhere close to how famous she is today. But that didn’t stop her from knocking it out of the park in this va-va-voom red Calvin Klein gown. This low cut yet simple gown, along with blownout blonde locks put Jennifer on the best dressed list that year!

Jennifer L

Mila Kunis

Wearing lavender in February can be tricky, but Mila was a vision in this chiffon Elie Saab gown at the 2011 ceremony. The delicate lace is placed strategically in all the right places and the ribbon around the waist compliments Mila’s figure perfectly.

That’s it for now, but tune in tomorrow to find out who was best dressed at the 2013 Academy Awards live from Hollywood!

Dining in Style | Sunday Cheese & Wine at Faqra’s Le 1700.

On a cold yet beautifully sunny Sunday afternoon, my friends and I decided to go up to Faraya to enjoy the sunset in the snow. After a freezing walk around the ski slopes, we were in the mood to have a glass of wine overlooking the amazing view of the snowy white mountains.

IMG_4228

We ended up going to Le 1700, a restaurant I discovered last Summer in Faqra that serves impeccable fresh cuisine in a cozy setting. It was around 6 PM so the place was almost empty and it was a relief to walk in to find the chimney on as it was close to 0 degrees outside.

IMG_4237

Located at an altitude of 1700m, the restaurant is made of a big house like wooden structure and the tables and chairs also made from wood are covered in simple, yet elegant white cloths. The walls are adorned with reindeer chandeliers, and the restaurant’s wine cellar boasts an impressive variety of wines from all around the world.

IMG_4210IMG_4230

After looking through the wine list, we decided to go for a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc by Sierra Grande from Chile; the exquisite taste was a fine blend between sweet sour grapes. We also selected the cheese plate that contains a variety of fancy cheeses including Brie, Parmesan, Roquefort, Camembert, and Chevre among others. Soon after, our Bruschetta Pomodoro arrived complete with toasted bread, chunks of red cherry tomatoes, and some fresh basil. We sipped our wine and enjoyed the colorful ingredients of our food while taking in the view of the snowy hills from behind the big glass windows.

IMG_4209

Following our meal, our dessert- a delightfully smelling milk chocolate fondue- was served along with fresh apples, strawberries, kiwi, pineapple, and bananas. It was the perfect sweet end to the perfect afternoon.

I highly recommend visiting Le 1700 before the end of the Winter snow season; the charming setting, friendly staff, smoke-free environment, delectable food, and overall ambiance will surely make your visit one to remember!

Le 1700 is located on Faqra Club Road, Kfardebian. (Right under Rickyz)

LB’s Fashion’s Night Out | DAMAC Luxury Interiors Launches VERSACE Home Boutique in Beirut!

Under the auspices of H.E.M. of Tourism, Fady Abboud, DAMAC Luxury Interiors launched the new Versace Home boutique in Saifi last night.

The Versace Home Boutique in Saifi

The glamorous affair attracted Lebanon’s elite crowd including Miss Lebanon 2013 Rina Chibany, Vivianne Eddé, Papou Lahoud, members of the Lebanese media, as well as the Versace Home team, who flew in from Italy to attend the event.

IMG_4451IMG_6487IMG_6492

The boutique houses items designed specifically by Versace Home to add a more luxurious touch to all home items; from precious china to chairs and tables, sofas, and even beds, the entire collection is intricately and carefully designed. The colors add a touch of freshness while maintaining the signature Versace class in every item, which makes us feel like the pieces should belong in an art gallery.

 IMG_6505IMG_6548IMG_6575

During the event, I had an amazing chance to meet and have a quick chat with Ms. Vanya Krasteva, Interior Designer at Versace Home Italy. On her third visit to Beirut, Vanya told me that Versace is keen on putting out a new home collection every year. Some of her clients wait for new items on a yearly basis to add to their treasured collections. The designs are basically a mixture of class and elegance with fresh pops of color here and there, along with the legendary Versace logo. Vanya is very excited about the launch of the boutique in Lebanon as it is a great opportunity to push the collection further in the Middle East and among clients who would love to own and display these prized possessions in their own homes.

Spotted | Carla Haddad is Beautiful on Dancing with the Stars Tonight!

After a series of disappointing fashion choices, Carla Haddad- who co-hosts the Lebanese version of Dancing with the Stars- is looking glamorous on tonight’s semi-final live show.

Carla is wearing a stunning long black gown with intricate gold studs all over the shoulders and sleeves. Bringing major sex appeal to the almost demure look is the thigh high slit Carla is rocking and clearly showing off in the results segment.

CarlaDress

Rounding up the amazing look are Carla’s soft side swept waves and very va-va-voom makeup complete with red lips and tons of mascara!

What do you think of Carla’s look tonight? And you enjoying the show so far?

Red Carpet | This Week’s Best Dressed!

While Rihanna was hands down best dressed at the Grammy awards on Sunday night, she was not the only one bringing fierce fashion to the red carpet this week!

Let’s start off with Miranda Kerr; leave it to the Victoria’s Secret angel to look like a million bucks even in the simplest of outfits. Miranda hits a press event in her native Australia in a simple, yet girly LBD and fun ankle strap floral heels and her signature bright smile!

Mila Kunis hit the red carpet last night in Los Angeles for the premiere of her new movie, Oz- the Great and Powerful in a Dolce & Gabbana cream and lace feminine gown, Sutra earrings, and silver Christian Louboutin peep toes.

Zoe Saldana knows how to make cutouts look classy and she does just that in a cream strapless dress with a peakaboo cutout under the bust. She finishes her look with a red lip, Louboutins, and fun understated gold jewelry.

Whenever I see pictures of Olivia Wilde, she’s usually walking her dog or getting coffee with Jason Sudeikis in jeans, a hoodie, and a baseball cap. So it’s such a nice change to see her looking so stunning in this black and nude Talbot Runhof dress at the launch of Revlon’s luxurious color silk buttercream line. Her Nicholas Kirkwood peep toes scream sexy sophisticated and her natural hair and makeup let the dress shine even more!

For the premiere of her HBO documentary, Life is But a Dream in New York City, Beyoncé makes a classy entrance in an Elie Saab Fall 2012 Couture gown. Awkward pose aside, B is simply beautiful in this glittery champagne gown, blown out straight locks and Laurraine Shwartz jewels. All these elements make Beyoncé look like a dream and that’s why she tops the best dressed list for this week!

Favorites | Valentine Heart Mani!

Never the one to go wild for nail art, I usually go for a french manicure or different shades of red.

However, I’ve been recently seeing a lot of interesting, funky, classy, and down right crazy nail art ideas on Pinterest and Instagram, so I decided to finally try something new!

Both

For Valentine’s Day last night, I asked my manicurist to give me “Valentine heart” nails: she started by applying a clear anti-yellowing base coat, then went on to paint two coats of nude Peggy Sage color. After, she used the Peggy Sage Royan red to draw the upper part of a heart on the tip of each nail  and rounded up the process with a fast drying shiney top coat.

Check out the final result below!I’m so happy I went for something new! Would you go for a such a manicure?

Dining in Style | Sunny Saturday Lunch at the Villagio!

The Villagio Piccolo opened its doors in Kantari, Downtown Beirut 2 weeks ago, and has been the talk of the town since then! From its cozy wooden structure to its charming atmosphere, and not to forget its delicious food, Villagio is THE latest hip and happenening craze of restaurants in Lebanon.

IMG_4348   IMG_4351

So, on a sunny Saturday afternoon, I took my boyfriend there to have an early Valentine celebration- the Italian way. Along with its charming outdoor seating, we were greeted by a rather large circular fountain with baby lemon trees all around. The gracious and young staff pointed us to a table for 2 inside, where we could see the cars passing by on the street from behind the glass walls.

IMG_4347

The first thing I noticed were the name tags worn by the waiters and waitresses; they all had names like “Speranza”, “Sergio”, “Odeo”, and “Diego”. It turns out that in order to have a complete authentic Italian experience, the management chose these names for the team and I must say it did create a friendly  converation with our waiters “Odeo” and “Speranza”.

IMG_4290

While talking about the restaurant’s décor, our warm bread rolls were brought in along with a delicious tomato bruschetta mixture and 2 glasses of Ksara Chardonnay. Soon after, our mixed green salad with fried marinated shrimps arrived; the light mayo sauce was just right and the shrimps tasted fresh and crunchy.

IMG_4354

IMG_4352

We enjoyed our main course in colorful green and yellow plates; my boyfriend had the mushroom ravioli (and I must say that very few restaurants in Lebanon have this dish on their menu) while I opted for the Tagliatelle with Alfredo sauce.

IMG_4353

Our final course of the meal was the homemade fondant au chocolat with vanilla ice cream. The fondant had sprinkles of granulated sugar around its edges which added to its sweet and delicious taste.

IMG_4292

We had a great time at the Villagio Piccolo; the staff is attentive to details, the food is served at just the right temperature, and the décor is coloful made classy.

You can even visit the Villagio’s neighboring Limoncello for breakfast as well as afternoon snacks; they serve sandwiches, salads, and desserts throughout the day.

Red Carpet | Rihanna is Best Dressed at the Grammys 2013!

OK. So I really wanted to have a best dressed list countdown, but Rihanna just caused that to fly out the window! Last night at the Grammys, the stunning Barbadian beauty was in a league of her own; from her gown to her makeup and that beautiful shiney hair, Rihanna was the ultimate best dressed star at this year’s awards!

Wearing a custom made Azzedine Alaia bright red dress, Rihanna owned the red carpet as she walked it. Her flowing gown with sheer panels of chiffon made heads turn, as everyone was reminded of her early good girl style choices.

What made Rihanna even that much more beautiful were her perfectly lined cat eyes, bright red lips, red manicured nails, and her classy ombre waves. Surely enough, the $2 million Neil Lane diamonds and rubies didn’t hurt either!
